Tronc Commun - UE-RDVTConfGlobalCometence : Conférence : Global Competence, the New Measure of Success in Higher Education par Nordin YAHAYA – Vice-President GE4

Domaine > Pôle Formation Générale.

Descriptif

This session explores global competence as an essential quality of today’s graduates — the ability to learn, work, and lead across cultures with empathy, ethics, and agility. It shows how internationalisation in higher education is no longer defined by numbers or mobility alone, but by how well universities prepare every student — on campus or abroad — to thrive in a connected yet divided world. Through real examples from the GE4 Network, UTM, and global mobility programmes, the session invites students and university leaders to see internationalisation as a shared journey toward confidence, communication, and intercultural competence. Participants will be encouraged to engage actively in intercultural learning, virtual collaborations, and study-abroad experiences as pathways to personal growth, employability, and global citizenship.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Explain global competence as a vital skill set for success in a diverse and interconnected world.
  • Recognise the value of international and intercultural experiences — both at home and abroad — in enhancing employability, adaptability, and lifelong learning.
  • Take action to participate in intercultural activities, virtual exchanges, or study-abroad programmes that build confidence and leadership across cultures.

Target Audience

  • University leaders and international office teams – Directors, Vice Directors, and Managers responsible for internationalisation strategy, partnerships, and student engagement.
  • Academic staff and programme coordinators – those integrating global and intercultural dimensions into curricula and learning outcomes.
  • Students and emerging global learners – individuals seeking to strengthen global competence through intercultural activities, virtual collaboration, and study-abroad experiences.
