Descriptif
Biotransformation processes are an application of engineering principles to design, develop and analyze processes that use biocatalysts. That is why this course is intended to achieve that with the use of microorganisms or part of them, materials are transformed into value added products of great importance for many cosmetic, pharmaceutical, food, chemical and agricultural industries. Learning the fundamental concepts of bioprocesses will be used to develop various bioproducts such as organic solvents, industrial alcohols, biopolymers, antibiotics, enzymes and proteins among others.
Objectifs pédagogiques
This course introduces the fundamental concepts of bioprocesses and Biochemical Engineering, focusing on separation and purification operations applied to biopharmaceutical products, such as vaccines and biotherapeutics.
