Descriptif

The pharmaceutical industry is increasingly looking for engineers and pharmacists with advanced training in pharmaceutical engineering. The aim of this course is to fill a need for engineers and pharmacist students who wish to develop skills to work in pharmaceutical product design and manufacturing.

With core strengths in fundamental powder and particle engineering, this course will give the opportunity to gain knowledge in areas of concern to pharmaceutical industry such as pharmaceutical materials engineering.

Particle design by encapsulation will also be addressed as part of this course.

Objectifs pédagogiques

Upon completion of this program students will be able to:

-Explain the role of pharmaceutical materials engineering in drug development;

-Recognize the role of excipients in creating and stabilizing multi-component solid in the solid state (using an example of solid dispersions);

-Evaluate process technology and processing conditions when formulating pharmaceutical solid forms by encapsulation;

-Become familiar with the main principles in the field of pharmaceutical materials engineering and particle design by encapsulation.
