Descriptif
The course introduces a method for the selection of suitable materials and processes depending on different performance criteria using a computer based software approach (CES Edupack software which can, by properties charts, compare different material properties : mechanical, thermal, chemical, etc.).

Programme détaillé
The course is organized via (i) 2 lectures of overview on the principles of selecting materials and processes and (ii) materials selection proejcts by group.
lectures 1 and 2 : Presentation of main materials and processes families / the design process / Material properties charts (CES Edupack software) / the basics of materials and process selection / Presentation of the group project
group project : by goup of 2 or 3, students have to apply the design process method and use the CES software for the materials and process selection for a given "simple" case study.
